Emma Frances "Emi" Leach

Emma Frances "Emi" Leach passed away peacefully Nov. 9, after a long struggle with lung cancer. Emi was born May 12, 1923 in Newark, New Jersey to Joseph and Ava Czyvornyek.
Emi graduated high school in 1941 and joined the Navy in 1944, she was among the first group of WAVES to be deployed overseas, she was stationed in Honolulu Hawaii.
She met and married the love of her life, Ralph Leach when they were both stationed in Corpus Christie, TX., after a whirlwind two week courtship.
While in the Navy they were stationed in exciting locations such as Panama and Naples, Italy. They retired to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1959 and relocated to Vallejo, CA., several years later.
Emi worked for the City of Vallejo for 12 years starting in 1968 as a clerk typist, she retired in 1980 as Assistant City Clerk.
Emi was a wonderful wife and mother always involved in her daughter Mara's life. She was an eager participant in many teenage antics, including being the designated driver for numerous Chinese fire drills and nights spent
"TPing" houses.
Emi is pre deceased by her parents; her husband, Ralph; her sister Ginny Rudaitis and brother, Joe Czyvornyek. She is survived by her daughter, Mara (Ray) Rigel of Manhattan, MT; her beloved grandchildren, Eric (Allyson)
Rigel of Charleston, SC; Kelsey Rigel of Cincinnati, OH; brother, Ed (Joyce) Redmond; Special niece, Connie Hellmer, and her long time companion, Ed (Brad) Bradley and his family, and her loving caregiver, June Molson.
The family would also like to thank Kaiser Hospice for the wonderful care given during the last several months, especially Wendy Stevenson her nurse.
A celebration of life will take place on Nov. 18, from 2 to 4 p.m., at LaStrada Restaurante, 6240 Napa Vallejo Highway 29, American Canyon, CA 94503.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Kaiser Hospice, 975 Sereno Drive, Vallejo, CA 94589 will be appreciated.
