Frank "Pa" Cole, 79 passed away Friday, Sept. 27, at his home in American Canyon. Frank was born Oct. 1, 1934 to Meredith and Edna Cole in Bakersfield, California.
After graduating from Morro Bay High School, Frank joined the US Army and served until 1963. After the Army he worked for Pac Bell Phone Company. He later used his welding expertise at Mare Island and Kaiser Steel from which he retired. Frank spent the last 17 years working for the Wal-Mart Corporation. He loved fishing and going on camping trips in his motor home. "Pa" was known for always having a camera taking pictures and collecting NASCAR die cast collectibles.
Frank is survived by his wife of 34 years, Mary A. Cole; children, Diane Campbell, Andrea Sampley, Toni McCart, Michael Kura and Ronnie Kura; sons-in-law, Merle Sampley and Larry McCart; daughter-in-law, Karen Kura; two children from a previous marriage, where abouts unknown; and sister, Dorothy Lakey-Rowe of Dallas, Oregon. He had eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Frank is preceded in death by his parents, Meredith and Edna Cole; son, Edward Kura and brother, James Cole.
A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, Oct. 20, at 1 p.m., at the Vallejo Moose Lodge. In lieu of flowers all donations can be made to Vallejo Kaiser Hospice.
