Frederick L. Carll Jr., 86, of Benicia passed away Monday at his home following a long illness. He was born in the Southern Pacific train depot in Antioch, CA. He lived in Davis for many years, transferred to Santa Rosa, then moved to Benicia in 1969.
Fred served in the Army
Air Force during World War II
in the Corporal-Squadron A-1 3706th Army Air Force Base Unit. He was also a past President and longtime member of the Benicia Kiwanis Club.
Fred worked at Bank of America for more than 35 years before retiring in 1984. He went into real estate and became a broker for almost 20 years. In his spare time he enjoyed taking on home improvement jobs for neighbors in Rancho Benicia where he lived. Fred also enjoyed flying remote controlled airplanes and had a passion for cars.
He is survived by Bobby Lou, his wife of 63 years; his children, Frederick Lindsay III, Vickie Lynn Tibbitts and Sandra Gwen (Rick) Teter; five grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Linda Carll, and his brother, George. He was preceded in death by his son, Lawrence Michael Carll in March, 2011 and sister, Barbara Schlinger, May, 2013.
Memorial services will be held Monday, Oct. 14 at 11 a.m., reception to follow, at First Baptist Church, 1055 Southampton Rd., with Pastor Scott Henning officiating. Burial will be in Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Dixon. Family prefers donations to the Kaiser Hospice Program or favorite charity.
