Gary Lee Newman

May 29, 1952 - April 24, 2013
Gary Lee Newman, a.k.a. "Big Gary", passed away on April 24, at his home in Vallejo. He was born on May 29, 1952 in Riverside, CA, to Lloyd Newman and Marilyn Hylbak.
Gary joined the United States Navy Jan. 28, 1971 and was stationed aboard the USS Flint for four years, during which he served his country proudly during the Vietnam war. He was honorably discharged on Dec. 31, 1974, achieving the rank of E-5. For his service to his country, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, as well as the Vietnam Service Medal.
Gary was a member of the Hell's Angels Motorcycle Club, Vallejo, and celebrated his 28 year anniversary with the club on Feb. 16, 2013. He enjoyed riding his FXR, patronizing his favorite Vallejo taverns and spending time with his club brothers.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Newman on Aug. 14, 1977. Gary is survived by his mother, Marilyn Hylbak and his sister, Margo Rose, her husband, Phillip Rose and their children, Jennifer and Jillayne Rose all of Minnesota.
A viewing will be held at Colonial Chapels, 1000 Redwood St., on Saturday, May 4, from 1 to 9 p.m.
Funeral service will be held at Colonial Chapels, 1000 Redwood St., Vallejo, Sunday, May 5, at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Sunrise Memorial Cemetery, 2201 Sacramento St., Vallejo.
