Gerald H. "Jonesy" Jones

Gerald H. "Jonesy" Jones, 91, of Benicia passed away Sunday in a local hospital after a long illness. He was born in Bethany, Oklahoma and was a longtime resident of the Vallejo/Benicia area. He was a veteran of World War II, and the United States Army serving from 1943-1946.
Jonesy worked for the United States Government for almost 40 years as a Warehouseman before retiring in 1982. He spent many years working at the Benicia Arsenal and later at Mare Island Naval Shipyard.
He was a life member of several organizations including serving as Commander for VFW #3928 and American Legion Post #101. He was also a life member of Cooties #77, Vallejo Moose Lodge #468 and the legion of the Moose. He served as Governor for the Moose Lodge three different times. He also was Quartermaster and Chaplain for VFW as well as District Commander. He is famous for his Liver and Onions dinners he has cooked since the mid 90's.
Jonsey is survived by his son, Gerald "G.L" Jones; daughter, Brenda (Allen) Sammons; six grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, at Passalacqua Funeral Chapel, Benicia. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Monday at Passalacqua Funeral Chapel followed by burial with Military Honors.
