Gregorio Generoso Munlawin

Gregorio Generoso Munlawin, 84, passed away peacefully March 23, with his family by his side. All who knew him will remember his generosity and kindness to his family in the U.S. and the Philippines. Born in Rizal, Bauan, Batangas, he pioneered the way for others in Rizal to join the U.S. Military and rose to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He married Natividad Mendoza in 1958 and had one son, Glenn. He was Chief Personnel Man for VA-147, the Argonauts; VA-125, the Rough Raiders; and at the Naval Support Activity in Long Beach. After retiring from the Navy, he worked at Mare Island Naval Shipyard, at the Combat Technical Schools Command and then at the Defense Reutilization and Marketing Service. He is survived by his son, Glenn (Jody) and grandson, Gregory of Vallejo; sister, Luisa Munlawin Hernandez (Densing) of Los Angeles; brother, Paulo (Nena) of the Philippines, and many other cousins and relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents; six siblings, and the love of his life, Natividad. Visitation will be held at Colonial Chapels in Vallejo on Monday, April 1, from 1 to 9 p.m., and Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with Vigil prayer at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass is at St Vincent Ferrer Church on Wednesday, April 3, at 10 a.m., with burial to follow at All Souls Catholic Cemetery.
