Lou Worel, 90, passed away after a short illness on Nov. 29. Lou was born to John and Nellie Hindman in Vallejo at the family home on Wilson Ave. She attended Vallejo schools.
She was a housewife for 23 years. After raising her children she enrolled in the Vallejo Beauty Academy from which she graduated, then took the state exam and became a beautician. She worked at Belva's Beauty Salon until Oct. of 1969 when she left to take a job with Bender Roofing Company Inc. in San Francisco, where she was the bookkeeper and office manager. She worked there until 1985 when the owner died and the business closed.
She returned to hair styling in 1986 and worked for the Shampoo Shack until 1990 when she left and went to work for Bay Area Bookkeeping and Tax Service where she worked until 2000 when the business closed. She then worked for Newell's Mobile Homes until she retired at the age of 81.
She was also a member of the Michael Dolan Auxiliary VFW
and was president in 1961.
She is survived by sons, Burky H. Worel of Vallejo, Larry (Penney) Worel of Tillamook, Oregon; Lanny (Andi) of San Antonio, TX; daughter, Eleanor (Michael) Marek, of Sacramento; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. A prayer service will be held Thursday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m., at Skyview Memorial Lawn.
