Mary Haro was a 56 year resident of Vallejo. Mary was born in Hibbing, Minnesota to Thomas Tastsides and Amelia Tastsides Rotati. She was the last surviving of three children for this couple. She attended Lincoln High School, Hibbing, Minnesota. She enjoyed returning to Hibbing for many all-class reunions and visiting with many family and friends.
Mary died at John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek on Feb. 27, at 10:20 a.m.
She married Reuben A. Haro on May 24, 1946 at the Lutheran Church, Hibbing, Minnesota. They lived in six different cities in Minnesota, including Chisholm, Eveleth, Hibbing, Virginia, Morgan Park, Duluth and finally Grand Rapids before moving to California on Nov. 21, 1956. They lived in Vallejo since June 1957 and on Irwin St. since August 1962, where they raised three sons, James T. Haro, Patrick A. Haro and Bradley J. Haro.
Once in California she started working in Vallejo for Tony Palayo Fine Men's Tailor Store before she began a lifelong career making draperies.
She is survived by her two sons, James T. Haro and wife Doris of Walnut Creek, and Bradley J. Haro of Lafayette; three grandchildren, Lisa Marie Haro of Napa, Marc Scott Haro and wife Raquel of Charlottesville, Virginia and Michael Reuben Haro of Fairfield; four great grandchildren, Tea Jordan Haro, Kaya Marie Haro, Abigail Emelia Haro, and Tyler Jefferson Haro; other close family members include her sister-in-law, Marcy Tastsides of Vallejo, her sister-in-law, Marian Tastsides of Duluth, Minn.
She was a long time member of the Vallejo Moose Lodge and former Vallejo Elks Lodge
participant. Her hobbies included Square Dancing and Polka Dancing.
She was preceded in death by Reuben A. Haro, her husband of 62 years. Reuben A. Haro died on Nov. 15, 2008.
A Joint Memorial service will be held for both Mary and Reuben Haro at the Vallejo Moose Lodge on Saturday, April 6, at 1 p.m., 337 Nebraska St., Vallejo. This will be a celebration of both of their lives.
