Melvin D. "Cookie" Cooke

Cooke, Melvin D. "Cookie" born Dec. 6, 1929 in Vallejo, passed away Nov. 12, in Napa, after a long illness. Melvin was a rancher and resident of Calistoga area for over 70 years. He was the youngest of four children. Melvin is predeceased by his parents, August and Mini Cooke. Melvin never married and is survived by his two nephews, Lee Cooke of Napa and Terry Gard, formerly of St. Helena, one niece, Linda Moran of Calistoga, and many other nieces and nephews. Melvin attended Vallejo elementary school and lived in Hollywood with his mother and sister, Evelyn where he worked as a model and in movies. Melvin graduated from Calistoga High School in 1947. Melvin owned Cooke's Tractor Supply and Auto parts in St. Helena, for several years and he attended church every Sunday until his illness last winter. Visitation will be held on Monday, Nov. 18 from 5 to 8 p.m., at Morrison Funeral Chapel, 975 Vintage Ave., St. Helena. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 10 a.m., at the Napa Valley Lutheran Church, 1796 Elm St., Napa, and final committal to follow at Tulocay Cemetery Napa. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the August and Mini Cooke Trust, a charitable foundation. Funeral services are entrusted with Morrison Funeral Chapel St. Helena, CA.
