Reverend Norman W. Simpson

Reverend Norman W. Simpson, 93, passed away Monday at Greenhill Care Home in American Canyon following a long illness.
Reverend Simpson was born to James and Margaret Simpson on Nov. 8, 1919 in Bethel, OK. He was one of 10 children all of whom have preceded him in death.
Reverend Simpson served our country in the U.S. Navy, on the USS Farenholt, from 1942 to 1945 when he was honorably discharged. He married the love of his life, Virginia on Jan. 18, 1945 and they had three children. He was called to the ministry in 1954, serving as pastor for churches in Texas and Oklahoma. The Simpson family moved to CA., in 1959 and took up residence in American Canyon where Reverend Simpson served as the Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church from 1960 to 1988.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Virginia; daughter, Marsha Pfister; sons, Vernon and Doug; grandchildren, Kevin, Chris, Katie, Cari, Michele, Greg, Aaron, Harley and Rachel; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, at Twin Chapels Mortuary, 1100 Tennessee St., Vallejo. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church, 117 Theresa Ave., American Canyon, with Pastor Marshall Stevens officiating.
Military honors and committal service will be held 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, at Sacramento Valley VA National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Rd., Dixon.
Memorial contributions are preferred to the Wounded Warrior Project.
