Rosetta Jean Dominguez, 65, of Vallejo, Calif., passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Jan. 5, 2013 after a long battle with leukemia.
Rose was born in Sioux City, Iowa on Aug. 18, 1947. She served in the U.S. Army and came to live in California in 1965. Rose lived in Berkeley, Hayward and Oakland before settling in Vallejo for 42 years.
She was employed at Treasure Island as an accountant and at Berkeley Unified School District, as an accountant before settling in at the state of California as a toll collector, eventually retiring in 2009 as sergeant at the Richmond / San Rafael Bridge with 27 years of service.
Rose is survived by her husband of 42 years, Fred Dominguez; five children, Eric Uyeno and wife Sara, Lance Uyeno and wife Lea, Christina Sallade and husband Dade, Julia Dominguez-Bell and husband Willie, and Gloria Barnhart and husband Nick; as well as 18 grandchildren, Joseph Lavin, Allison Oldfield, Emily Uyeno, Monica Alvarez, Olivia Alvarez, Javier Alvarez, Jr., Anthony Uyeno, Mia Bella Sallade, Cole Sallade, Raymond Roberson, Wayne Bernard Jr., Angelea Roberson, Alexander Roberson, Serenity Rose Bell, Isaiah Bell, Anna Maria Bell, Samuel Barnhart and Nicholas Barnhart Jr.; brother, William Soule, and sister, Violet Allen, both of Sioux City, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by mother, Effie Soule; father, Everett Soule; her sister, Nancy Soule; daughter, Ruthie Alvarez; and grandchild, Dennis Gonzales.
Rose loved to go on spur of the moment long drives with her soulmate Fred, traveling in their RV with as many grandchildren as they could pack in. She loved the Oakland Raiders and rarely missed their games.
She also loved following her grandson Tony, across the country watching his baseball games. But, most of all, she loved spending time at her favorite place in the world, the Children's Bell Tower in Bodega Bay.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Colonial Chapels in Vallejo. Viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. both Wednesday, Jan. 9, and Thursday, Jan. 10.
