Victor Virgil "Vic" Lee

Victor Virgil "Vic" Lee, age 91, passed away on Dec. 17, 2012 in Grants Pass, Oregon.
Vic was a native of Oakland and moved to Vallejo with his family at the age of five. He became an Eagle Scout at the age of 15. He graduated from Vallejo High School with the class of Jan., 1939 and then attended Sacramento Junior College.
He enlisted in the "Seabee" U.S. Navy in Dec., 1942 and was honorably discharged in Feb., 1946. Vic worked at Mare Island Naval Shipyard and also for many years at the Vallejo Post Office, where he started as a window clerk and retired Dec. 31, 1975, as Manager of Stations and Branches.
In Nov., 1975, Vic married Rose Marie Jones. They traveled the world and all 50 states making special friends everywhere they went. Their favorite place was New Zealand. Vic enjoyed football and had a season pass to Caveman football in Grants Pass. He also enjoyed playing his keyboard.
Vic was a member of Naval Lodge #87, F&AM, Scottish Rite of Oakland and life-member of the Royal Arch Masons, Ben Ali Temple of the Shrine and Legion of Honor in Ben Ali Temple. After moving to Grants Pass in 2000, he joined Hillah Shriner's Josephine County Shrine Club, Grants Pass Lodge #84 and Rogue River #226, AF&AM. He played the piano as a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge #2454, Elks Lodge #1584 BPOE, NARFE Chapter 134 and American Legion Post 28.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie; daughter, Sandy (Steve) of Vallejo and their children, Ryan and Matthew (Nancy); daughter, Diane of Medford, OR., her daughter, Jackie (Danny) and their children Christopher (serving in the U.S. Navy), Daniel, Gabriel and Kayla.
He was preceded in death by his son, Loren, who died serving his country in Vietnam; brother, Norman (Phyllis) of Vallejo; and his parents.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 16, at Bethany Presbyterian Church, 741 NW 4th St., Grants Pass, OR.
