Wanda Ruth Nelson

Wanda "Ruth" Nelson lost her long battle with cancer on Dec. 27, at home with her loving family by her side at the age of 85, Ruth was born in Okmulgee, OK, on Sept. 25, 1928 to Ercell and Purl G. McCoy. She was the oldest of 10 children.
Ruth's family moved to California where she met and married Dewey "Swede" Nelson in Vallejo and together they raised five children.
Ruth worked at One Hour Martinizing in Vallejo for many years. She met many people while working at the counter and was known for giving the customer's children Dum Dum lollipops. Ruth also worked for Trend West at Marine World in Vallejo; she would enjoy seeing family and friends as they would stop by her booth. Ruth was known for all the crafts she made for family and friends' through-out the years and she was a die-hard Raider's fan.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dewey, Ruth leaves behind her children, Walter Leon Garner (Amy), Karen Elaine Hague, Beverly Martinez, Signe Vega (David) and Karen Carson (Daniel); grandchildren, Melissa, Julie, Amy, Michelle, Jonathan, Jason, Jeffrey, Heather, Alicia, Joseph, Casey, Zachery, Charles and Kimberly; also included are 29 great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
Special recognition should be made to Francisco, Daniel, Patricia and Rubin from Heartland Hospice Care.
