Mildred, 86, a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully in her Benicia home surrounded by her family on Monday, Sept. 13, 2010.
Mildred was born to Floyd and Willa Boyd in Maramec, Okla., on July 21, 1924.
Her family moved from Oklahoma to Filer, Idaho, in 1928 and eventually moved to Martinez, Calif., in 1942.
She met her husband of 66 years, Thomas Donohue, in January 1944 and they married just three months later on April 24, 1944. Mildred loved her family and family gatherings, but she especially loved the trips to Maui with Thomas. She loved the sound of the ocean and the sunsets while sitting on their Lanai.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Doris Ricabono; and her daughter, Theresa Gardner. She is survived by her husband, Thomas; son, Donald (Linda); daughter, Pamela (Terry); brother, Bud (Ellen); sister, Betty; grandchildren, Scot, Shannon, Thomas Sarah, Kristine and Caitlin; and her great-grandchildren, Karlee, Alyssa, Samantha, Logan and Kolton.
A Catholic prayer service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Dominic's Catholic Church, Benicia, with burial following at St. Dominic's Catholic Cemetery, also in Benicia. Visitation will be at
Passalacqua Funeral Chapel after 3 p.m. Thursday.
Memorial contributions are preferred in Mildred's name to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure of Breast Cancer in memory of her daughter, Theresa.
