David James Lamoree passed away peacefully in his home on Dec. 9, at the age of 89.
Dave was a 56 year resident of Vallejo. He was born in Newcastle, Pennsylvania and later moved to Champaign, Illinois where he graduated from the University of Illinois.
His college years were interrupted by World War II when he served in the Army Infantry in the European Theater until the conclusion of the war. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded the Bronze Star.
He began his life's career as a chemical engineer with Sinclair Oil of Chicago and later moved to Vallejo in 1958 to work for over 30 years with Chevron Research in Richmond.
Dave served on the Vallejo Housing Authority from 1962 to 1966 and as a City Councilman and Vice Mayor from 1965 to 1969. He later volunteered at the Vallejo Historical Museum and for the Sandy Beach Improvement Association.
He met and married Betty June O'Neil in 1958, and the two of them raised three children, Charles O'Neil Lamoree (Debbie) of Medford, Oregon, Thomas David Lamoree (Lynn) of Ashland, Oregon, and Carol Jean Heins of Palo Cedro, California. The couple were married for 55 years.
Dave is also survived by his sister, Mary Cunningham of Rohnert Park, California, and has grandchildren, Sarah Rose Lamoree (Larry Benenson), Garrick Topp, Billy Heins, and the late David Frank Lamoree.
The family would like to thank the many neighbors, family members, and friends for their support, cards, calls, and prayers.
