Edward "Brad" Bradley Notice
April 21, 1921  - Jan. 15, 2013
A beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather, Edward F. Bradley, has passed away after a brief illness.  He was a native of Ohio where he attended Fenn College before entering military service. Mr. Bradley was a resident of Vallejo since 1965. "Brad" was a retired United States Navy Chief Petty Officer who served his country for 31 years during World War 2, Korean War, and the Cold War of the 1960's. He was a Combat Swimmer with the Navy's Underwater Demolition Teams and a veteran Submariner. His military decorations included a Presidential Unit Citation and several Navy Unit Citations.
Mr. Bradley's second retirement was from Mare Island Naval Shipyard where he was a Ship Superintendent and the Shipyards Operational Submarine Safety Advisor. Brad's final years of employment were as an Engineering and Logistics Consultant for North Bay Marine Engineering.
"Brad" was a special person to all who met and knew him; loyal, engaging and had a sense of humor that will be missed by all, he had such wonderful zest for living. He was an avid professional sports fan, and was an "ALL NAVY" softball athlete in his military years. In his social life he enjoyed good music and dancing, and his fraternal friendships of the Elks, Moose, Sirs 88, and the Navy Fleet Reserve. His most enjoyable times were those of the camaraderie he had with his fellow military retirees.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Loretta; spouses, Ellen and Margarita, and adopted daughter, Peggy. Those remaining to mourn his passing are son, Richard (Sharon) Bradley; daughter, Joy (Don) Mitchell; grandchildren, Chris, Jon, Kim, and great granddaughter, Hunter, extended family, step grandchildren, Kelly, Kimberly, and step great grandchildren, Lynzie, Nolan, Jack and Luke.
Visitation hours are 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 18. The funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan. 19, at noon, with BPOE #559 Vallejo Elks Lodge and Fleet Reserve Branch #8 officiating. Both visitation and funeral service will be held at Skyview Funeral Chapel, 200 Rollingwood Drive, Vallejo, CA. Burial with Military honors at Skyview Memorial Lawn.
