Fred K. Sibley 81, of Vacaville Calif., passed away peacefully on Feb. 15, from cancer.
A funeral service will be held on March 1, at 11:30 a.m., at the Nadeau Family Funeral Home, with inurnment at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon. A celebration of Fred's life will be held in Vacaville following the inurnment.
Fred was born in Cologne, Germany on March 11,1931. He grew up during the war and met his future wife and partner of 60 years, Ursula, in 1949. He immigrated to the United States in January of 1951 with his mother and stepfather and stayed in New York City while his parents moved on to California.
Fred received "Greetings" from the Draft Board in Jan., 1952 and was drafted into the US Army. After Basic Training at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii he was shipped off to Korea where he earned a Purple Heart. He was discharged from the Army in Oct. 1953, and returned to the US and received his citizenship.
Ursula immigrated to the US in July, 1953, sponsored by Fred's parents. They wanted him to marry a nice German girl. They were married on Nov. 14, 1953 and started a family with the arrival of their firstborn in Sept., 1954.
Fred started his banking career in 1954 as a teller trainee at the Bank of America in Walnut Creek. Ten years later he went to work at the Redwood Bank and in 1980 started Solano Federal Savings, which later became Surety Bank.
He was elected to the Vallejo City Council in 1973 and served for 10 years, including a term as Vice Mayor in 1975 and 1976. 
Fred was always involved in community service and activities. He served as chair of the Vallejo Planning Commission; President of the Vallejo Kiwanis Club; Director of the Sem Yeta Council of Campfire Girls; and Director of the Solano County Taxpayers Association and a member of the Elks Club in Vallejo.
Fred retired from banking in 1993 and began his life as a gentleman farmer. He remained a Financial Adviser for a select group of clients until 2012. 
Fred is survived by his children, Raymond (Susie) of Denver, CO., Tina of Yuma,  AZ., and Kenny (Aura) of Vacaville, Calif.; grandchildren include, Craig, Krisstin, Nicole, Justin, Clifford, Kyle and Lukas; great grandchildren, Collin, Brett and Michelle, and other family and friends.
The family of Fred Sibley wishes to thank the medical staff of Kaiser Vacaville, Paramount House, and the hospice staff who made his last days comfortable and pain free.
