Gloria Kathryn McAdams

1922 - 2013

Gloria Kathryn Bragg McAdams, educator and community volunteer, died April 5, 2013, at the age of 90 after a short illness.
Gloria was born June 7, 1922 in San Francisco, the daughter of Marguerite C. and Roy C. Bragg.  The family moved to Vallejo in 1920 when Gloria's father began work for, and eventually managed, the old Vallejo Electric Light and Power Company.  Gloria graduated from Vallejo High School in 1940, Sacramento Junior College in 1942 and Dominican College of San Rafael in 1944. As a Navy wife, Gloria moved across the globe raising her family in Massachusetts, Virginia, Washington DC, Hawaii and France.  After returning to her hometown, Gloria taught kindergarten through third grade with Vallejo City Unified School District for 20 years until her retirement in 1989.  She enjoyed the students, families and staff of Steffan Manor, Federal Terrace, Cave and Pennycook Elementary Schools.
Gloria's productive retirement was spent traveling, golfing, acrylic painting and volunteering with Sutter Solano Medical Center Guild, Vallejo Symphony League, College Women's Club of Vallejo, Mare Island Historic Park Foundation, Catholic Social Services, St. Catherine of Siena Church and St. Basil the Great Church Altar Society.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents Marguerite and Roy Bragg; brother, Donald Bragg (January 1, 2013); and son-in-law, Roger Mora.  Left to cherish her memory are her four children: Jeffrey McAdams, DDS of Vallejo, Mark McAdams, OD of Castro Valley, Marily Mora of Piedmont and Kristin Kwitek (Martin) of Vallejo.  Gloria is also survived by four grandchildren, Jessica and Katelin Mora, and Kenneth and Mitchell Kwitek; sister-in-law, Gloria A. Bragg; nieces, Donna Rose and Cathy Higgins (Dan); sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jean and Edmund Pereira of Rhode Island, and their family including devoted nephew Kenneth Pereira (Dianna).  Additionally, Gloria leaves her beloved cousins Carol Holmgren (Tom) and Father James Hagan.
Special appreciation goes to Gloria's care givers Annie Tuason, Kathy Erillo and Tom Panday of Almabella Manor II.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by her cousin Father James Hagan Wednesday, May 1, at 11 a.m., at Mary's Chapel of St. Basil the Great Catholic Church.
