Joseph Q. Duenas (Pinko) aka Papa Joe, 10-4 and Cocomo Joe, 65, was born to Jose & Jesusa Duenas. Formerly of Guam, Papa Joe lived in Vallejo for 38 years after serving in both the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserves. He was very proud of his service during the Vietnam War. Papa Joe enjoyed Bar-B-Qing and helping raise all of his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marie Carbone; mother, Jesusa Q. Duenas; daughters: Fidela (Rick) Cancino, Amy (Brenton) Garrick, Sue Ann (Eddie) Paulo; sons: Larry (Sue), Pete (Catherine), Mike (Leilani); grandchildren: A.J. Manalansan, Melanie, Evony, and Shanna Cancino, Noah and Sarah Duenas, Mariah and Mariana Garrick, Cecilia Kenery, Katrina, Josephine, and Vanessa Duenas, Michaela, Matthew, Charlize, and Mana Boy (1 ton) Duenas, and Vincent, Florinda, and Valentina (China Doll) Paulo; great-grandson: Jonathan Cancino; brothers: Antonio (Joy), Roy, Victor (Pat), Andrew and Raymond; sisters: Rosita (Lloyd) Osborn, Mary (Ben) Jesus and Susan Duenas; brother-in-laws: Lawrence (Mary) Carbone, Louie (Caren) Carbone and Charles Rosalin; sister-in-laws: Natalie Carbone and Mening (Tony) Cadiz; reared sister: Lupe Duenas; reared brother: Jesus (Monica) Pangelinan; best friends: Alberto (ABBB) Reyes and Gregorio Concepcion, Jr. and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Duenas; mother-in-law & father-in-law: Fidela Manibusan and Lawrence Carbone; brother-in-law & sister-in-law: George & Florence Pangelinan; reared mother: Paz (Pedro) Pangelinan; reared sister: Ignacia (Joaquin) Fejaran; granddaughter: Veronica Ann Paulo; great-granddaughter: Maya Luna Green; sisters: Caridad & Florence; brothers: Fred, Frankie, Harold, Herman and Richard; reared brother: Vincente Chargulaf (Ben Unda).
Viewing will be held on Sunday, April 28, from 12 to 9 p.m., at SkyView Memorial Lawn, 200 Rollingwood Drive, Vallejo. Mass service will be Monday, April 29, at 11 a.m., at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, 3450 Tennesee Street, Vallejo
