Longtime resident Lois Elizabeth Gleason, 87, passed away April 8, after a long illness.
Lois was born in Vallejo on Oct. 30, 1925 to Louis and Marguerite Lundberg. She graduated from Vallejo High in 1943 and received a BS in Zoology from the University of California in Berkeley in 1947. In 1960, Lois married former Times-Herald sports columnist Don Gleason, who passed away in 1998.
Lois was a lab technician at Vallejo General/Sutter Solano Hospital for 28 years before retiring in 1995. She was an accomplished tennis player, bowler and photographer. She had a thirst for adventure and travel and took cruises to far-flung locales including Japan, China, Russia, Australia and Alaska. One of her frequent cruise companions was longtime friend, Shirlee Reinhart of San Diego. Lois once flew on the Concorde to Europe with cousin, Barbara Thurston of San Rafael.
Lois is survived by four children and three daughter-in-laws, Christopher Lowe of Orlando, FL., Mark (Jennifer) Lowe of Lincoln, CA., Brian (Marlene Willauer) Lowe of Woodland Hills, CA., and Kevin (Cina) Gleason of Pacifica, CA.; four grandchildren, Lani and Janelle Gleason and Kyle and Zachary Lowe.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 13, at 11 a.m., at Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, 201 Doyle Drive, following, entombment at Sunrise Memorial Cemetery, and a reception will be held at the Vallejo Elks Lodge.
Arrangements are under the direction and care of Wiggins-Knipp Funeral Home.
