Robert P. Lye is at rest at the age of 86, after dealing with cancer. He was born Oct. 4, 1926 in Waterloo, CA. He died at home on Jan. 26. Bob was a proud veteran of the United States Navy; having served in WWII aboard the USS Alaska in the Pacific. When he returned to Dixon after the war he graduated from high school and then went on to Sacramento State. He worked in the drywall business and had Midstate Drywall in Vallejo for 50 years. He moved to Napa and was a member of Silverado Country Club for over 40 years. His passion was golf and his son, Mark Lye, went on to become a PGA tour pro and Golf Channel analyst. John Larson Lye served in the Marine Corp and graduated from the Corcoran School in Arlington, VA. Daughter, Diana has an art degree from Briarcliff and has a design business called Zaragoza in San Anselmo. The grandchildren were a special joy. Mark and his wife Lisa have Lucas Lye age eight and Eva age six in Bonita Springs, FL. Diana's children, Max Rudsten and Hannah Rudsten live in San Francisco. Bob credits his ability to stay in shape and play competitive golf until almost 86 to his long time partner, life coach and eventually wife, Julia Larson Lye. Bob truly was one of a kind. He managed to have things his way right to the end. He will be missed by all who knew him. He had a true pure heart. At his request no services will be held.
