Sue (Suzanne Mestyanek) Healy passed away on Thursday, March 28. She was born to Slovak parents, Joseph and Susan (Jasco) Mestyanek. And was married to her husband, James John Healy for over 50 years. They have three children, James J. Healy Jr. (deceased) Jane (Bob) Brown and Michael (Nicole) Healy. Also survived by three grandsons, Anthony Brown, Tim Brown and Eddie Brown. Her five siblings are Joseph Mestyanek Jr. deceased, (Frances, deceased) Hal Mestyanek deceased (Sandra) and Diane Barbaro,(Rocky) Larry Mestyanek (Judy) and Tom Mestyanek. And many in laws and nieces and nephews.
Suzanne was a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner for over 28 years with Kaiser Permanente. She initiated the Great Starts Program, doing physical exams on early discharges of newborns and was a UCLA lactation consultant, and child development instructor to family practice residents. Also she was a preceptor in Pediatric Clinic to Nurse Practitioner students from the University of San Diego, UCLA, California State College, Los Angeles. She was a volunteer for the Riverside Alliance for Mentally Ill, support for self help groups for mentally challenged children and teens. She volunteered many hours at the Divine Word Missionaries in Riverside California as a camp nurse and nurse looking after the elderly priests and volunteered for sports physicals for Notre Dame High students in Riverside, CA. Offering many hours at an orphanage in Alhambra, CA.
Earlier on she graduated from St Vincent's College of Nursing in Los Angeles and Chapman University, Orange, CA. She was a member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies, which helped with many scholarships for her grandsons. And loved her Slovak! 
She was a member of St. Dominic's Parish in Benicia.
Vigil services will be held 7 p.m., Monday and a Mass of Christian burial will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, both at St. Dominic's Church, followed by burial in St. Dominic's Cemetery, Benicia. Visitation will be at Passalacqua Funeral Chapel, Monday, from 2 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to help feed the poor to St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o St. Dominic's Church, 475 E. I St., Benicia, CA 94510.
