Troy Wayne Wood, age 75, passed away peacefully at his home in Birch Bay, WA on Saturday, June 15. He was born in Winfield, Alabama, to Grace and Albert Wood. In 1951 the family moved to California. Troy graduated from Benicia High School in 1955. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War in Germany. He was a member of the Free and Accepted Mason's Benicia Lodge #5. He was an Apprentice and Journeyman at Mare Island Naval Shipyard.
In Nov. of 1967 he was initiated into the Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 343 in Vallejo. He transferred from Local 343 to Local 40 in Bellingham, WA in 1974, and retired as a member of Local 26 in 1998. He was a loyal Union member for 45 years.
He enjoyed traveling, Thursday night card games with the guys and watching the Mariners and Seahawks.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Barbara; daughter, Linda Stockton; step-children, Gary McGee, Michelle (Rob) Reed; step-grandchildren, Caitlin Reed and Matthew Reed; step-great grandchild, Brian Reed; sisters, Marie Sandford, Vacaville, and Deliska Metzger, Vallejo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grace and Albert Wood; brother, Hershel Wood, and sister, Ludeen Vance.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation and thanks to Whatcom Hospice Foundation for the wonderful care given to Troy during his illness. At his request, no services will be held.
