Burnett Nelson passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, Sept. 27, 2010. He had been battling a lengthy illness.
Burnett was born in Montgomery, Ala.
After completing high school, he joined the Air Force and was honorably discharged after 20 years of service. He loved to sing, cook and entertain. He is survived by his wife, Belen, and sons, Burnett and Bernard.
Friends and relatives were invited to the vigil Mass at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, at Colonial Chapels, 1000 Redwood St., Vallejo, Calif. A viewing was held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on the same day.
The funeral Mass was held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at St. Basil the Great Catholic Church, 1225 Tuolumne St., Vallejo. An honor guard performed for his inurnment at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, at Sacramento Valley VA National Cemetery in Dixon, Calif.
