David Oliveira Carvalho of Port Orchard, WA passed away on Friday Sept. 13, after a long courageous battle with cancer. David, 48, was born in Fall River, MA on Aug. 3, 1965 to Portuguese immigrants Maciel and Maria Carvalho. He was raised there and in Westport, MA with his siblings, Michael and Jessica before the family moved to Vallejo, in 1981.
Before moving to WA in the 1990's, David lived in Vallejo and Napa where he met and was married to Sherri L. Carvalho in 1987 and had a son, Jesse A. Carvalho in 1988. In 2000, he married Karin Hull of WA, and lastly married Tami Carvalho of Port Orchard, WA in 2007. David was known for his devotion to his family, friends, and most of all God. His charitable acts carried throughout his life helping anyone who asked of him.
As a youth he was remembered for his adventurous spirit, contagious laugh, and artistic abilities. As an adult, his talents prospered into a lifelong career in the auto body industry where he excelled and mastered his trade. David specialized in classic cars and hot rods but took great pride in every project, owning his own shop Shepard's Auto body over 10 years in Port Orchard, WA.
He leaves behind his wife, Tami Carvalho of Port Orchard, WA; son, Jesse Carvalho of Huntingdon, TN; mother, Maria Carvalho of Benicia; father, Maciel O. Carvalho (deceased) of Vallejo; brother, Michael Carvalho of Vallejo; sister, Jessica Carvalho of Vallejo; many uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws and friends from coast to coast. Memorial services will be held Thursday, Sept. 26, at St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Benicia at 11 a.m. Burial service to follow at All Souls Cemetery and a Celebration of Life lunch at 1:30 p.m., at Zio Fraedo's. 23 Harbor Way, Vallejo to honor David's life and memory. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to a cancer charity in David's name to help find a cure. However, flowers may be sent the day prior to services to the home of Maria Carvalho, 1756 Lindo St., Benicia, CA 94510.
