Estelita "Esteling" Obcena Carrasco Baltazar, 89, died peacefully, surrounded by her family. She died after a brief illness on Sept. 20, 2010.
Esteling was born in Paniqui, Tarlac, Philippines. She was the loving and supportive wife of Oscar L. Baltazar Sr. for 65 years. She was one of a kind and a devoted mother to Virginia and Ernesto de Castro, Josephine and Macro Linsao, Cristine Baltazar-Sy, Oscar Jr. and Rose Baltazar, Amanda and Noel Antonio, Sergio and Grace Baltazar, Ramon and Elvie Baltazar, and Medy and Nelson Lamorena. She was the proud Lola to her 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Virginia Obcena Domingo, and nephews, nieces and friends.
Esteling graduated with a bachelor of science in elementary education from Philippine Normal College and a master of arts in education from Arellano University. She started as a teacher and subsequently retired as a district supervisor from the Department of Education, Tarlac South District, in the Province of Tarlac, Philippines.
Friends and relatives are cordially invited to the wake service on Friday, Sept. 24th, at 7 p.m. at Colonial Chapels, 1000 Redwood St., Vallejo, CA. A viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on the same day. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, 925 Sacramento St., Vallejo, CA, on Sept. 25th at noon. Interment will follow at All Souls Catholic Cemetery, 550 Glen Cove Road, Vallejo, CA.
