Irma Jean Hildebrand Notice
May 16, 1930 - Nov. 17, 2012
Irma Jean Hildebrand went to be with the Lord and her departed husband and love of her life, Leslie Elmer Hildebrand on Nov. 17, after a short illness. Jean, as her family and friends knew her, was born May 16, 1930 in Sparta, Missouri of Lilly Opal and John Maxie Winslow. In 1935, after the passing of her mother, the family moved to Corcoran, CA., and then in 1947 to Vallejo. Jean graduated from Vallejo High School in 1948 and was married in 1949 to the late Hershell Lee Richardson. Hershell and Jean raised their seven children in Vallejo all of whom graduated from Hogan High School.
Jean was a housewife and mother but always found time to be active in the community. She belonged to numerous clubs and organizations in Vallejo including Order of Eastern Star #278, North Bay Nite Caps, Women of the Moose, Vallejo and North Bay Rose Societies, Nite Owls, Violet Club, Quilt Club, Women's Club and Vallejo School Cafeteria Retirees Club.
Jean served several terms as the President of the Vallejo Seniors at the Vallejo Senior Citizens' Council and worked with many Vallejo Mayors to improve the lives of seniors in Vallejo and neighboring cities.
Jean was preceded in death by parents, Lilly and John Winslow; her husband, Leslie Elmer Hildebrand; her three brothers, Norman, Harold and James, and her grandson, Joshua Leslie Richardson.
Jean is survived by her sister, Audrey Fay Anglen; seven children, Ronald (Mary) Richardson of Vallejo, Daniel (Tracy) Richardson of Clayton, Robin (Mike) Kirkland of Gold Canyon AZ, Trude Knapp of Sacramento, Karen (Matt) O'Shea of Concord, Kelly (Ali) Scott of Vallejo and Debra (Ron) LaFond of Brentwood; 13 grandchildren, Sarah Richardson-Jones, Megan Richardson, Ali-Ibn Scott, Jamaal Scott, Ashley Richardson, Zachary Richardson, Mallory Hall, Kayla Hall, Quinn O'Shea, Kimberly Knapp, Christopher Knapp, Jarred Burke, Shelby LaFond, and three great-grandchildren, Devin Joshua Richardson Jones, Haylee Louise Richardson Jones and Alliana Rose Richardson Jones.
Jean enjoyed being with her family and spending time in her yard with her roses. She was a friend to many and good neighbor to all. She will be missed but always remembered as a strong and confident woman with a generous heart.
A simple funeral is planned for Friday, Nov. 30, at 3 p.m., at Skyview Memorial Lawn Chapel, 200 Rollingwood Drive, Vallejo. Flowers are welcomed. (There will not be a viewing.)
