James Parker passed away Monday, Sept. 30, 2013 at Sutter Solano Hospital after an extended illness.
James was born Dec. 21, 1955 to Frazier and Cattie Parker in Columbus, GA, moving to Vallejo at age 9. His Mother remarried Rev. Clifford McCarver and together they Loved, raised and guided him to adulthood. He attended Vallejo schools, graduating from Peoples High in 1974.
James worked at Napa State Hospital and Broadway Hospital in Vallejo. He then worked alongside his Mother, Cattie (Mama Soul) McCarver, in their family owned restaurant, The House of Soul, for over 35 years. James was well known for his peach cobbler.
James met the Love of his Life, Mandy Banks. Together over 35 years, their union produced seven children. His Granddaughter Lari was the apple of his eye. A Great Father and Grandfather, he was also a Loving and Special Uncle. He loved each and every one of his nieces and nephews, always treating them special.
James was preceded in death by his Father, Frazier, his son, Roland, his daughter Beatrice and his most Beloved wife Mandy; his brother, Michael (Ladonna).
James leaves to cherish his memories three sons, James (Redding), Danny (Vallejo) and Jerrell (Fairfield); two daughters, Cattie and Marisa, both of Vallejo; His Loving Mother, Cattie McCarver, Stepfather, Rev. Clifford McCarver; four brothers Kenneth and Frank (Vallejo); Ruben (Sandy) of Sacramento and David (Karen) Glenolden, Pa; two sisters, Catherine Parker and Saundra McCarver (Vallejo). His treasured Granddaughter, Alariya. Special friends, Greg McClure and Dwight Chambers. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Viewing will be held Tuesday, Oct. 8, between 4 and 8 p.m., and at 9 a.m. Wednesday prior to the 11 a.m. Celebration of Life at Liberty Baptist Church, 1035 Indiana St., Vallejo, CA.
