A Navy veteran, Juan M. Matanane proudly served his country for 20 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Maria "Babie"; siblings, Ignacio Matanane and Catalina Rojas; daughters, Merilyn (Tom), Vivian (Andy), Debbie; sons, John, Robert, Wayne (Martha); 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was born on Guam on Feb. 5, 1927 to Victorina Matanane. Throughout his Navy career, his family experienced life on Guam and the states of Georgia and Hawaii. They settled down and made their home in Vallejo, before relocating to the Sacramento area. Juan lived a full life, spending his 86 years surrounded and loved by his family and all that knew him. He joined his mother and two brothers in Paradise on March 27, 2013.
Services: Thursday, April 4, Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 9539 Racquet Ct., Elk Grove, CA 95758.
Viewing: 10 to 11:45 a.m., Mass: 12 noon.
Burial: Hilltop Cemetery, Waterman Road (Between Elk Grove Blvd. and Bond Road), Sacramento.
Reception: Good Shepherd Catholic Church Parish Center.
