Karen Quisenberry Obituary

Sept. 15, 1936 - Sept. 14, 2009

Karen Marlene Quisenberry, 72, passed away Monday, Sept. 14, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Karen was born in Mandan, North Dakota, to Edwin and Laura Wonn and called Vallejo her home for the last 67 years. She was the traditional hard-working homemaker and was happiest raising her children and helping others.

She was a great bowler and a longtime member of the Vallejo Bowling Association as well as being a wonderful cook. She enjoyed the frequent challenge of a good crossword puzzle and she would never pass up the chance for a fun trip to Reno.

Karen was preceded in death by her father, Edwin; mother, Laura; sisters, Dana and Nola; husband, Andy; and very recently, her eldest son, Edwin Sr.

She is survived by her brother, Dennis (Aida); three sons, Allen (Shirley), Dan and Pat (Linda); and two daughters, Patsy (Paul) Sylvester and Joyce Grable. In addition are her best friend and cousin, Marla Peck, her 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and countless relatives and extended family.

A celebration of Karen's life will be held Saturday, September 26, at 2 p.m. at the home of Allen and Shirley Quisenberry, in American Canyon. If you would like to attend and need directions, please send an e-mail to [email protected].

Contributions in Karen's name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 774 Empire, Suite 209, Fairfield, CA 94533.

Dear Family and Friends:
I had the opportunity to get to know Karen at various events hosted by her family members. What impressed me the most about Karen was her pride and joy in being around her children, grandchildren and their friends. She was very strong and faithful in caring for her son, Edwin, during his illness and I found this to be remarkable. The love she had especially for her each of her children and grandchildren was also remarkable. Her presence will be sorely missed.
God's Blessings,
Jane Graff (friend of the family)

To the Quisenberry Family, we, the Breelands send our heartfelt sadness and sympathy for your loss.

My last visit with Karen was during that last summer party house filled with love and family. Karen lay there on the couch with the most loving smile watching her grandchildren crawling and playing with the other small ones and struggling to get a handhold to stand up to laugh. She laughed aloud there too even with effort. She held them so dear and so too all of you. please know we are with you and let us know if in any way we can help any of you.
