Mary Jean Dillon, of Benicia, passed away Friday in a local hospital following a long illness. She was born in Los Angeles on April 21,1926, the daughter of Henry and Zelma Klinglesmith. Mrs. Dillon was a graduate of Sacred Heart of Mary High School in Montebello, CA. She was married to Col. James W. Dillon, a Marine Corps pilot for over 60 years. He preceded her in death in 2005. Col. and Mrs. Dillon were long time residents of Benicia where they owned Dillon's Antiques for more than 25 years.
She was a longtime member of St. Dominic's Church.
Mary Jean is survived by her children, Kathleen (Norwood) Maddry, James (Karlissa) Dillon, Robert (Patricia) Dillon, Maureen Dillon and Patricia Dillon (Patrick Ward); grandchildren, Maria Maddry, Samantha Dillon, Meredith Gonsalez, Matthew Pitt, Justin Dillon, James Henry, William and Emma Ward; great grandchildren, Alexandria and Lola Gonsalez and Zane Riedl and her beloved Bichon, Max. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Zachary Maddry in 1995.
Vigil service will be held 7 p.m., Wednesday, at Passalacqua Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m., Thursday at St. Dominic's Church followed by burial in St. Dominic's Cemetery. Visitation will be at Passalacqua Funeral Chapel after 3 p.m., Wednesday.
