Norma Sequerra Favila Notice
Nov. 1, 1939 - Sept. 19, 2013
Norma Sequerra Favila, 73, passed away peacefully at her home, Wednesday, Sept. 19, after a short battle with cancer.
Norma was born Nov. 1, 1939 in Bangued, Abra, Philippines to Antonio and La Paz Sequerra. She married Alfredo A. Favila in 1964 and together they immigrated to the United States. Norma moved to California in 1969 and settled in Vallejo in 1975 after Alfredo was stationed at Mare Island. She obtained her BS in nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse for more than 25 years at Sutter Solano Medical Center before retiring in 1999.
Norma enjoyed bowling, playing Bingo, loved penny slots and was a long-time San Francisco Giants fan. Norma played many roles and achieved much in life, but being a Mom and then "Mama" was the role she most cherished and enjoyed. A great source of pride and happiness came from watching her grandchildren compete in their chosen sports or performing on stage. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Alfredo; five daughters, Christine (George) Bohorquez of Fairfield, Nancy (Blain) Wong of Rohnert Park, Donna (Andrew) Udahl of Elk Grove, Alma (Sean) McKenry of Fresno, and Patricia (Keith) Shinozaki of Santa Clarita; 12 grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Emilvina Sequerra of Vallejo; her sister, Jovencia Tejero of San Jose and brother, Reynaldo (Judy) Sequerra of Chicago, Illinois, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Zosimo "Butch" Sequerra.
Visitation will be held at Colonial Chapels, 1000 Redwood St, Vallejo, on Tuesday, Sept. 24 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., with the Vigil service at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass for Norma will be at Saint Basils the Great Catholic Church, 1200 Tuolumne St., Vallejo on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 10 a.m. Norma will be laid to rest at the All Souls Cemetery, 550 Glen Cove Rd., Vallejo, immediately following funeral mass. Arrangements under the direction of Colonial Chapels.
