Richard Howard Davidson Notice
May 17, 2018 Richard Howard Davidson was known as a gentle giant. He was kind and thoughtful and loving. He perfected his life and humanity when he was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, May 17. Mr. Davidson, age 66, was born in Chico, CA to Roy and Norma Davidson. Being the son of an Air Force officer, he traveled to and lived in many places, spent his childhood in Riverside, and later married his college sweetheart, Cheryl Smith, and made his home in Vallejo. Mr. Davidson was a graduate of Sonoma State University with a degree in Psychology. He also attended the Defense Language Institute, Presidio of Monterey, and the US Army Intelligence School and Center at Fort Huachuca, Sierra Vista, AZ, graduating as a Russian Interpreter/Interrogator. Richard had a mastery and gift to attain many titles throughout his life. He enjoyed counseling the youth at Solano County Juvenile Hall. He was a weaponless defense instructor, and a Real Estate Broker. He also, along with his wife, owned and operated homes for the disabled. Richard's love for music as a skilled guitarist was a testament to his passion, discipline and dedication to his craft, which he practiced daily. Music was one of the most important parts of his life; he was a prolific songwriter, composer and producer. He had an eclectic taste in music and has been added to God's heavenly orchestra. Richard will be missed by his wife, Cheryl Smith-Davidson; four children, Ryan (Shannon), Julie, Khadia (Anthony), and Jonathan (Derrhea); grandchildren, Amara, Abigail, Tristan and Kaiya; siblings, Priscilla, Robert, and Patricia; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John H. and Millie A. Smith; best man and brother-in-law, Dr. Reginald Smith; a number of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceded by parents, Roy and Norma Davidson. Richard is loved by his wife and children and is immensely missed. We are thankful to God for creating such a magnificent human being. We love him, but God loves Richard more. Thank you for allowing him to spend his time here on earth with us. We are grateful. A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m., Thursday, June 7, at Wiggins-Knipp Funeral Home in Vallejo. Dr. Reginald Smith will officiate.
