Rich (Dick) was born in San Francisco and grew up in Richmond, CA. He was in the National Guard all through high school and entered the Air Force after graduation. He was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska and then sent to Orlando, Florida. He held a variety of different jobs until joining Boiler Makers Local 549, Pittsburg; later becoming a pipefitter with Local 342 out of Concord.
He worked on the Alaskan Pipeline out of Valdez loving every moment he spent in Alaska.
A "Celebration of Life" service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 120 East J. St., Benicia, CA., on Saturday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m. Everyone is invited that knew or worked with Rich and asked to wear Hawaiian attire. There will be a reception following at the church hall. A military funeral will be held at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery, Point Loma, San Diego, CA., at a later date.
Any donations are asked to be sent to the in his name. Special thanks to everyone at North Bay Hospice. Rich suffered from complications of a rare skin cancer called Merkel cancer. He never gave up hope - saying "It is what it is"! Aloha dear one.....see you over the rainbow.
