Bob was born in Vallejo, Aug. 23, 1923 at the family home on Pennsylvania St. He passed away peacefully in Benicia on Dec. 23, with his daughter, GayleAnn, by his side.
Bob joined the U.S. Navy during WWII and served in Guadalcanal and Guam as an Aviation Machinist's Mate First Class from 1943-1944. He married Bonnie Conkwright and had two daughters, Robyn Lunt (John) and GayleAnn Frank. At the end of the war, he continued with the Naval Reserve until retiring in 1983 as a Commander.
After his wartime service, Bob attended and graduated from USC Dental School in 1952. He practiced with his father, Walter I. Frank, D.D.S. in their office on the corner of Georgia and Marin St. When his own office was built at 4 Florida St., Bob continued his practice there for the next 35 years.
Bob was an active member of the Vallejo Yacht Club including being Commodore in 1965. He was an avid boater and all around sportsman. He also participated in many community activities; he was on the Vallejo Planning Commission from 1956 to 1959, a Solano Deputy Sheriff on marine patrol from 1977 to 1997, a member of the Elks Club, Vallejo Sea Lions Club, Sons of Italy, a Mason and Shriner but, most of all, he was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, and mentor to many.
Bob is survived by his daughters, Robyn and GayleAnn; brother, Dr. Richard Frank and his family; grandchildren, Robert Brito, Stacy Marin, Melissa Chaney, Graham Phelps, Colin Phelps, six great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends.
