Valda Rose Notice
Sept 5, 1923 - Nov. 5, 2017 Vallejo Mom was a Vallejo Elementary School Teacher for about 30 years. As far back as I can remember she was a Teacher; whether as a Sunday School or Elementary School Teacher, mom considered her students as her second family. When we would go out for a walk and someone would stop us and ask her, "are you Mrs. Rose?" She always said "yes". The person would say, "you were my 4th grade teacher at Pennycook" (or one of the other schools in Vallejo). You were good to me and I learned so much. When I got mom home, she would pull out her yearly school pictures and find that person, "Oh yes, now I remember her or him", was mom's response, "what a good student she was". It was a good day for mom when someone would come up to her and ask, "Are you Mrs. Rose." As the story was told to me, when she was born, the doctor told her parents, "no need to name this one, she will not make it more than a day". I always took the story as a maybe type story, until she needed a passport. There was no birth certificate and in 1960 she applied for a Delayed Certificate of Birth; in 2007 a special Certificate of Birth was created for her. Mom fooled the doctor by living a full life until she was 94 years and two months. Note: I know my mom is looking over my shoulder and saying that I need to make my sentence clear and that punctuation marks are wrong. Let's try it this way. Always the school teacher. Mom left behind three sons, Charles, David and Larry who gave her seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, and sister, Loyce. Preceded in death by siblings, Clifton, Verle, Dale, Ira, Norman and Elaine. Visitation will be Monday, Nov. 13 from 3 to 8 p.m,. at Colonial Chapels, 1000 Redwood St. Funeral service will be Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 11 a.m., at St. Paul's on Tuolumne St. Burial will follow at All Souls Cemetery.
