Aug. 24, 1930 - March 15, 2014
Adella, 83, passed away Saturday in her hometown of Vallejo, following a short but brave battle against cancer. She left a large circle of family, friends and colleagues that surrounded her throughout a good life in the San Francisco Bay Area. She attended St. Vincent Ferrer High School, graduating in 1947 before entering the University of California at Berkeley. She left to work in San Francisco before marriage and raising a family.
Shortly afterward, she began a long career in the Solano County Library system working at the JFK Library and many branches including Fairfield and Vacaville. Adella moved into subsequent paralegal and medical records careers always rising to the challenge of mastering new skills and specialized knowledge.
Throughout her life, she remained a long-time parishioner of St. Vincent's and eventually St. Basil's Catholic Church. She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Lombre (Lonnie) of San Francisco and son, Marc Lombre of Vallejo; sister-in-law, Elie Lombre; her grandchildren, Nicole Colata (Jeff), Jamin (Christie), Pilar, Sonia; nieces and nephews, Fran, Art, Don, Cario, Juan, Jeanette, Steve; great grandson, Griffin, plus a large and loving extended family.
Adella will always be remembered for her generous nature either cooking for a whole gathering of family and friends or sitting and talking with an individual about any topic of interest. Her adventurous, open, and forward-thinking manner defied her age and upbringing. She will be missed by all who recognized her independent spirit and spunk.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, March 21 at 11 a.m. in the Mausoleum Chapel at All Souls Cemetery, 550 Glen Cove Rd., Vallejo, CA. Burial service will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name to St. Vincents-St. Patricks High School, 1500 Benicia Rd., Vallejo, 94591.
