Dorothy Pauline Cooks Notice
Feb. 8, 1931 - March 14, 2014

Dorothy Cooks, 83, affectionately known as "Dot", passed away Friday at Kaiser Medical Center in Vallejo. She was born in Bailey Mississippi.

An Independent Domestic Worker in San Rafael for 40 years, she retired in 2001. She was lovingly called "Suga Bee" by her grand and great-grandchildren. An avid Bingo "Expert", she enjoyed, cooking, baking and preserving, to the delight of her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Grady Cooks; a daughter, Janice Cooks; a son, Grady Albert; her parents, Rutherford and Lela (Gordon) Greenwood; a sister, Leanna Lay; and two brothers, Gordon and Temple Greenwood.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Jacqueline Highbaugh, Jeanette Cooks-Grayson; sons, Clifford, Gregory and Dwayne Cooks; sister, Johnnie Mae Stancil; brothers, Bennie, Willie Greenwood; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 24, from 3 to 8 p.m., with a Quiet hour at 7 p.m., at Wiggins-Knipp Funeral Home, 524 Capitol St., Vallejo. Services to be held Tuesday, March 25, at 11 a.m., at Friendship MBC, 1905 Florida St., Vallejo. Burial at Sunrise Memorial Cemetery, Vallejo. Arrangements by Wiggins-Knipp Funeral Home, Vallejo.
