Peggy Esslinger, 85, passed away Monday at Kaiser Hospital in Vallejo surrounded by her family following a long illness.
Peggy was born in San Luis Obispo, CA and was a former resident of Benicia and American Canyon before moving back to Benicia six years ago.
She started working in food service for the Benicia Unified School District in 1959 and also was a bus driver for St. Dominic's Elementary School during that time. She went on to work for the Vallejo Unified School District and retired in the early 1970's.
Upon her retirement, Peggy was proud to have logged in over 4900 hours as a Kaiser Volunteer. She also enjoyed line dancing, camping, sewing and spending time with her family. Her true love was Tai Chi.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin and son, Donald Murtaugh.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Lou Lemas, Charlene Dinsdale and Tina (Ron) Flaherty; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
At her request no services will be held and inurnment will be private.
