H.R. Autz Notice

H.R. Autz, 71, of Benicia passed away Friday in a local hospital after a long illness. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri and has lived in Benicia for over 26 years.

H.R. spent time as a Retailer and Advertising Executive until he opened his own agency in 1997. He also worked many years as an Ad Director for the Alameda Newspaper Group and the Contra Costa Times. He has been the City of Benicia Treasurer for the past two years.

He was a member and former Commodore of the Benicia Yacht Club and the editor of it's monthly newsletter, Windword. He was President of the Homeowners Association for Harbor Walk and member of the Board of Directors of Heidelberg at June Lake. He loved golf and the Oakland Raiders on the occasions that they won.

He once graced the cover of the Saturday Evening Post as the boy holding the puppy in the Norman Rockwell painting "At the Vet."

H.R. is survived by Christina, his wife of 49 years; sons, Richard H. (Karina) Autz and Bryan William George Autz and his spouse, John Ruedisueli; sister, Crissy Maxine (Marc) Swartz; nephew, CMD Shaun (Katherine) Swartz; nieces, Tara Michelle Swartz and her spouse, John Koritkoski and Brittany Ann (Micah) Pierce; grandchildren, Robert and Rudolph Autz and his beloved sheepdog, Bentley.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday at Passalacqua Funeral Chapel. Burial will be private at Benicia Cemetery. Family prefers donations to United Network for Organ Sharing, P.O. Box 2484, Richmond, VA 23218, (804) 782-4800, www.unos.org.
