James Joseph "Jim, Mickey" Bonner, 92, passed away Friday in Vallejo following a brief illness. Jim was married to the love of his life Patricia Mae "O'Connor" Bonner. They met while attending Shasta Union High School in Redding, and were married in Reno, NV in 1942.
Jim was born to James and Helen "Guyer" Bonner in San Diego, on March 2, 1922. He has lived in Vallejo for the past 68 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a Corpsman. He worked for Langendorf Bakery delivering bread and baked goods for almost 30 years and retired from there in 1982. In his retirement he was a part time Funeral Director and Embalmer with Passalacqua Funeral Chapel and Twin Chapels Mortuary.
Jim was a member of BPOE #559, Vallejo Lions Club and the Boy Scouts of America. He was a former member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Vallejo and a current member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Benicia.
He was preceded in death by his son, Kevin and two grandsons, Todd Kozier and Paul LaVigne.
Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Patricia "Pat"; daughters, Cheryl Bonner and Suzanne (Sam) Romano; sons, Brian and Scott (Dena); 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be held 1 p.m., Friday at St. Dominic's Church, 475 East I St. Benicia. Military Honors and burial will follow at All Souls Catholic Cemetery, 550 Glen Cove Road, Vallejo. The services will be immediately followed by a gathering at the Vallejo Elks Club, 2850 Redwood Pkwy, Vallejo.
