Edward Halverson, 84, passed away Christmas Eve at Kaiser Permanente Vallejo Medical Center. He was born in Appleton, WI. He served at Fort Carson Army Base in CO, from 1951-1953. After that, he attended Marquette University for a year. Edward then decided to become a Lutheran Minister, and enrolled at Concordia Theological Seminary, Springfield, IL. He graduated June 3, 1959. His first call was to the Simi CA area in 1959. A new Church and new parsonage was constructed there. His next church he served was located at First Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Vallejo, CA. Later he served at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Vallejo, until he retired April 10, 1994. He then enjoyed his retirement by traveling with his wife of 56 years in their RV. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; two daughters, Sandy Fouts and Brenda Butcher; grandchildren, Jason and Heather Fouts, Dominic and Matthew Trujillo, and Jacqueline Butcher. The memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 29, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1030 Redwood St., Vallejo, CA 94590.
