Myra Marek Obituary
Myra Kathryn "Kathy" Marek was born in Vallejo, CA., on Jan. 21, 1943 to Lawrence and Myra Cralle. Kathy graduated from Vallejo High School in 1960. At the age of 14, Kathy met the love of her life, Jay Marek, and they were married April 25, 1964. Kathy worked at the Social Security Administration in Vallejo for several years before marriage. In 1979, Jay and Kathy left Vallejo and took the family to live at the family cabin in Cazadero, CA., for a year. This was their paradise! In 1980, they relocated to Watsonville, CA., where they lived for 10 years. Kathy worked at the Santa Cruz County Office of Education for the ROP program during this time. In 1990, they returned to their beloved home in Cazadero, CA., and Kathy worked for the Rincon Valley Union School District as the secretary to the superintendent for 12 years until she retired in 2002. Kathy was very proud to have been a breast cancer survivor and could often be heard boasting how she BEAT cancer!!! Kathy had many friends and loved to have fun. For the past 10 years Kathy received great joy from spending a lot of time at her second home in So. Lake Tahoe.
Kathy died peacefully, surrounded by the immense love of her husband, children and grandchildren in their beautiful home on Sunday, Jan. 20, just two hours before her 70th birthday.
Kathy is survived by her best friend and husband of 48 years, John "Jay" Marek; daughter, Joelle Marek Treanor; son, JJ Marek; and a daughter she made her own, Deena Ferrin Pontious (Jess). She also leaves her seven beloved grandchildren, Amanda, Noah, Jordan, Taylor, Devin, Quinn and Eli; a brother, Don (Sheila) Cralle, and a sister, MaryAnn (Michael) Cantafi. Kathy was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Holly; her sister, Carolyn and her parents.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 26, at the DeLoach Winery Guest House in Santa Rosa, CA.

Somewhere in this world, there have been a more fun loving straight to the point beautiful soul, but I rather doubt it! So much love, so many good times. Those who knew her, most certainly recognize the great loss. Mr Jay, we love you & are forever envious of private time the two of you shared.
