Eva Castro Dominguez, age 76, passed away on Feb. 7, surrounded by her family. She was born on Feb. 12, 1936 in Rosario, Cavite in the Philippines. She graduated from Cavite High School, Class of 1953. She attended school at Philippine Normal College and majored in Education to become a teacher. She taught for several years until she worked for the Post Office as an Assistant Postmaster. Eva married Patrocinio B. Dominguez on Dec. 30, 1963 and traveled with him to Japan, Texas, San Diego, Philippines, Hawaii and California, throughout Patrocinio's career in the Navy. She retired from Silverado Country Club Resort in April 1998.
Eva was involved in activities with Fleet Reserve Branch 8, Class of 1953 Cavite High School, and Filipino American Retired United States Armed Forces Association (FARUSAFA). She was the Past President of Fleet Reserve Ladies Auxiliary Branch 8 and a member of Filipino American Retired United States Armed Forces Association (FARUSAFA).
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Patrocinio B. Dominguez; her daughter, Elaine Ribay (Robert) of Union City; her daughter, Eleanor Bruton of American Canyon; her son, Patrick Dominguez (Judith) of American Canyon, and her son, Nilo Dominguez (Norrissa) of Vallejo.
She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren, Michael Bruton, Jessica Bruton, Janelle Ribay, Christopher Ribay, Natalie Ribay, Tatiana Ribay, Mark Dominguez, Zara Dominguez, Cassia Dominguez, and Olin Dominguez.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Agustin Castro and Salome Adrid; her brothers, Prudencio Castro, Fredie Castro, and Raul Castro; her sisters, Adela Castro and Arsencia Castro. She is the second eldest daughter of ten children. Her remaining siblings are Augusto Castro, Oscar Castro, Procesa Belantes and Tomas Castro.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Special thanks to all who have loved and supported Eva throughout her life and most especially during this time of need.
Viewing will be held at Colonial Chapels on Sunday, Feb. 17 and Monday, Feb. 18, from 1 to 9 p.m. Mass will be held at St. Basils on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 10 a.m. Arrangements under the direction of Colonial Chapels.
