Noema Velma Andrews Notice
Aug. 2, 1934 – March 20, 2013
Noema V. Andrews passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 20, in a local hospital following a long illness. Her daughters were at her side when she passed. Also, frequently by her side was her close cousin Rachael Daniels.
Noema was born in Arcola, LA to the late Daniel and Velma Mobley. Noema graduated in 1954 from McClymonds High School in Oakland. She then enlisted and served in the United States Air Force. She later moved to Vallejo and became a Psychiatric Technician working at both Sonoma State and Napa State Hospitals. After moving to Vallejo she met and married Mr. Raymond C. Andrews. Noema was a member of the Morning Star COGIC in Oakland, but she also attended the Rescue Mission COGIC in Vallejo under the leadership of the late Rev. Moses Tyson Sr.
Noema enjoyed being with family, gardening and attending church. She was a devoted grandmother and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Noema was preceded in death by her siblings, Oscar Mobley, Lora Hollins, and Daniel Mobley Jr.; husband, Raymond C. Andrews; and daughter, Debra Ann Andrews.
She is survived by daughters, Rosalind (Darrell) Walker and Danielle (Wayne) Andrews; grandsons, Darrell "DJ" Walker, James L. Walker, Khalil Samad Andrews and Kevin Gallon; brother, Peter (Jimmie) Mobley of Vallejo; sisters, Mary Frances Martin and Darlene Robertson of Oakland; and sister-in-laws, Carolyn Andrews of Vallejo and Martha Marie Johnson of Los Angeles.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 29, from 3 to 8 p.m., with a quiet hour at 7 p.m., at Wiggins-Knipp Funeral Home located at 524 Capitol St., Vallejo.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 30, at 11 a.m., at the Morning Star COGIC located at 745 Willow St., Oakland. Burial will be at Sunrise Memorial Cemetery, Vallejo.
All arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wiggins-Knipp Funeral Home.
