Alex, of Vallejo, passed away due to an illness at Kaiser Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born in South Dakota but has been a resident of Vallejo for 57 years.
Alex loved to golf at his favorite golf course, Blue Rock Springs. He was in the US Navy from 1942 – 1945, he's a WWII Veteran, boat USS Lang. Alex retired from Berkeley Farms in 1980. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Eva; brother, Harold, and sister, Hildegard.
Alex is survived by his wife of 67 years, Frances; sons, Bob Sr. (Charlene) and Ron (Dolma) Schaeffer; daughter, Connie (Curt) Grigg; brothers, Merle and Alvin; grandchildren, Bobby Jr. (Angela), Shelley (Bryan), Shane, Alexis, Lori, Kal and Zompa; and seven great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to Dolma Schaeffer and Mark Bonsol for the excellent care they provided.
Visitation service will be held on Thursday, June 27 from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held Friday, June 28 at 10 a.m.
Both visitation and funeral service will be held at Skyview Memorial Lawn, 200 Rollingwood Drive, Vallejo. Burial will take place at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon.
