Calixto Sazon Lapid, 82, died Friday in a local hospital after a short illness. Born in the Philippines, he was a resident of Vallejo for 31 years. He served in the Coast Guard for 26 years and retired in 1981.
Mr. Lapid was preceded in death by his wife, Leonor, who passed away in 2005.
He is survived by his four children; two daughters, Anna and her husband Patrick and Robin; two sons, Alex and his wife Genevieve and Byron and his wife Kristina; three sisters, Eugenia, Maring and Paz; one brother, Francisco; and three grandchildren, Jelissa, Joshua and Elijah.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, July 28, from noon to 9 p.m., with a vigil at 7 p.m., for family and friends at Skyview Memorial Chapel, 200 Rollingwood Drive, Vallejo.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 29, at 10 a.m., at St. Basil the Great Catholic Church, 1200 Tuolumne St., Vallejo. A military service follows at Skyview Memorial Lawn with reception to follow.
