Thomas (Tom) Magallanes Puckett, 75, of Vallejo, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 31, at his home. Born in Pasay City, Philippines to Charles and Paz Puckett he lived most of his life in Vallejo.
Tom was a Patriot, a Leader, a musician, devout husband, loving father, caring grandfather and a spiritual man. He served his country with courage as he fought in the Vietnam War and invested 20 years in the US Navy. Tom retired a Master Chief in the US Navy. He continued his career serving the Suisun Bay Reserve Fleet as the Assistant Fleet Superintendent of Engineering.
Inspired by his Faith in God, Tom lived his life committed to service to God. In 1974 he became Lay Director of the Cursillo Movement and was one of the founders of the Cursillo Movement in San Diego. He was an integral part of the Sacred Heart Prayer Group for over 30 years and spent all of his life serving in his parish community.
Tom was an extremely loving father and husband. He spent much of his life leading, protecting and providing for his four daughters and his wife. Tom is survived by his four daughters, Nancy (Puckett) and her husband Mike Carter, Cathy (Puckett) and her husband Rick Stark, Shirley (Puckett) and her husband Chris Reiner, and Michelle (Puckett) and her husband Bruce Wick. He is also survived by his loving wife, Erlinda (Lynne) Puckett and his adoring eight grandchildren, Cierra, Katarina, Fallan, Trevor, Amanda, Maverick, Morgan and Katie; as well as his caring brother in laws, Ben Apilado and Joe Apilado and his wife Joy. Tom is preceded in death by his cherished wife, Socorro (Cora) Puckett of 49 years.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Sept. 12, at Colonial Chapels, 1000 Redwood St., Vallejo, CA 94590 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday, Sept. 13 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A Vigil service will begin at 6:30 p.m., on Friday, Sept. 13 at Saint Catherine of Siena Parish, 3450 Tennessee St., Vallejo, CA 94591. Funeral service for Tom will be at Saint Catherine of Siena Parish on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 10 a.m. Our beloved Tom will be laid to rest at the All Souls Cemetery, 550 Glen Cove Rd., Vallejo, immediately following funeral service. Rest in Peace Daddy. We love you!
