Fernando A. Dacayo Sr., was born June 1, 1926 in San Marcelino, Zambales, Philippines to Eustaquio and Olympia Dacayo. He went to be with the Lord on Dec. 26.
Fernando, also known as Fred, served in the U.S. Navy for 28 years, retiring in 1974 in Pearl Harbor Hawaii. After retiring, the family settled in Vallejo, CA. He worked for the U.S Postal Service for over 10 years before retiring for the second time.
Fernando was a member of various retired veterans organizations and local Filipino-American Associations. His favorite pastime was watching baseball which began with the Brooklyn Dodgers. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and gardening. He also loved bowling, traveling and his casino bus trips, but most of all he loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Florencia and son, Fernando Jr. He will be dearly missed by his sons, Edwin (Bonnie), Davy, Van, Lawrence (Jenny); grandchildren, Angelica, Jordan, Venchelle, Vanalynne, Fresca, and Zoila.
Visitation will be Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 9 p.m., with 7 p.m. Vigil on Sunday, both at Colonial Chapels, 1000 Redwood St., Vallejo. Catholic Mass will be held Monday, Jan. 6 at 10 a.m., at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 3450 Tennessee St., Vallejo, with burial to follow at All Souls Catholic Cemetery, 550 Glen Cove Rd., Vallejo.
