Mary 'Jean' 'Nana' Buckman, 81, of Dallas and formerly of Wilkes-Barre, died Friday morning, Jan. 4, 2013, at the Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas.
Born in Tresckow, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Mary Mooney Banks.
Jean was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre, and was employed as a nurse's aide and last was associated with the former Charles Spellman Funeral Home, Wilkes-Barre.
Jean loved being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, spending time at Harveys Lake, and she was very devoted to St. Jude.
Preceding her in death were her son, Tommy Buckman, on Sept. 7, 2004, a brother, Bernard Banks, and brother-in-law, John Mendusky.
Surviving are her sons, Michael and his wife, Kathy, Wilkes-Barre; Frederick and his wife, Dana, Dallas; William and his wife, Susan, Shavertown; grandchildren, Michael, Melissa, Kerri, Andrea, Kevin, Rachel, Laura, Maya and Olivia; great-grandchildren, McKayla, Kamryn, Liam, Emma and Gavin; sisters, Pat Mendusky, Wilkes-Barre; Marilyn Suhanich and husband, Bob, Wilkes-Barre; Judy Noll and husband, Gilbert, Shavertown; sister-in-law, Nancy Banks, Wilkes-Barre; and several nephews and nieces.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Therese's Church, Shavertown. Interment will held in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Corcoran Funeral Home Inc., 20 S. Main St., Plains Township. Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 332 North Lauderdale, Memphis, TN 38105. Online condolences may be made at www.corcoranfuneralhome.com.
